Pests in Columbus Ohio can become a major threat without a proactive approach to solving the issue. Our team offers several packages to ensure you receive the right treatment for your personal conditions through our extermination and pest management quality assurances.
Commercial Pest Management
Many businesses face a pest infestation at one point or another due to factors such as climate, density, and bacteria that may be growing that you are unaware about. Our team makes sure that your commercial property stays pest free while ensuring quality control with our safety measures and “White Glove” approach.
Preventative Maintenance and How it Works
The outside perimeter is encircled with a barrier of protection against most pests; such as pavement ants, carpenter ants, earwigs, sowbugs, pillbugs, centipedes, millipedes, spiders, crickets, oriental cockroaches, woodsroaches, bees and wasps. Think of it as having an impenetrable barrier that protects your home! A low odor, low toxic insecticide will be applied. We ask that all windows and doors be closed, pets kept inside and any outdoor toys picked up before applying the insecticide.

What others say about us
I have used this company since I had problems with carpenter bees. The bees have not been back. I have a maintenance program with 1st Response now. If there are any issues, the company is quick to respond. I have been very happy with their services and pest management program. I would highly recommend 1st Response Pest management to anyone needing pest control
We’ve had an annoying bed bug problem for over a year now. After a failed chemical treatment, I joined Angie’s list in search of a highly rated pest management provider. Everything from 1st response was top notch. From the initial phone call, to the inspection, to the actual treatment. They were quick to respond, answer questions, and the treatment went as expected. The time it took to prepare was quite long since we had a ton of clutter. I think it was time well spent to ensure the treatment would be as successful as possible. They heated the house to over 130-140 degree’s and kept it there for 3-4 hours. From what I’ve read, this seems to be the best way to eradicate all the bed bugs. We returned home hours after the treatment and the house was still well over 100 degree’s. It took several hours before it wasn’t a heat wave anymore. Nothing was damaged during the treatment. It’s been over 3 weeks now and still no sign of bites, fecal or blood stains. Thank heavens for 1st response! It’s nice to sleep at night without worrying about what’s crawling around in my bed.
I recently hired 1st Response Pest Management to remove two wasp nests from our home. Their scheduling person was extremely friendly and professional, and they sent someone out to fix the problem within a few days. They even offered to come back out for no additional charge if we found any additional nests within 30 days of service. Their technician was great. He called me to explain all of the steps that he took to solve our problem. The wasps are gone, which is such a relief. 1st Response did an excellent job and I’d definitely hire them again.
We are out-of-state landlords of a home in Columbus where our son and friends are renters. We were NOT happy to hear that the boys thought there were bedbugs in one bedroom–yucky. My dealings with First Response from start to finish were thorough and professional. The office gave me all the basic info about what would be done if bedbugs were found during free inspection. It is quite a process to prepare the house before treatment can begin, and the boys were well-informed about what they had to do. We were glad they use heat treatment rather than chemicals. They were able to get us on their schedule quickly, and so far the treatment has worked.
We would definitely use them again for any type of pest management.
This was our summer outside service – they spray for all bugs to prevent them from entering our home. They target pests such as Ants, Spiders, Millipedes, Centipedes, Earwigs, Pillbugs, Bees, Wasp, and Hornets. We have been using 1st Response for a few years as our pest control provider. They are extremely thorough and very professional. We rarely ever find any bugs in our home thanks to 1st Response.
Inspected for carpenter ants and treated around the house, garage and patio. The service tech, Shawn, came to inspect for carpenter ants that we had seen in the driveway and climbing up between the siding and house. We had sprayed immediately but wanted to make sure they hadn’t nested in the house. He inspected the basement and found no evidence of them even though there were still a few wandering around outside. He treated around the house, garage and patio. He was very courteous, friendly and professional. We have seen none since.
Suspected carpenter ants because I observed winged ants on the back porch. I called 1st response to come to my house for an inspection and for pest eradication. Chris Brandt came out and performed an extremely detailed house and basement inspection. He found evidence of a carpenter ant nest in my basement crawl space. He sprayed and advise that quarterly inspections would be wise because carpenter ants can return. I was very impressed with Mr. Brandt’s professionalism and his careful and detailed house inspection.
We had termites in our back yard in a tree stump and had 1st response treat all around the perimeter of our home to protect the home and also to treat the termites in the stump. Jay did a great job, the team were very prompt and helpful and completed the job very thoroughly. Since the initial treatment we have had no problems at all in the house. When termites have been found in other areas of our yard, Jay has been very quick to come out and treat any small termite problems which have developed, as a result of having tree stumps and wooden structures on the property perimeter. There has never been any charge for extra services and we feel that we have had excellent value for money and long-term follow-up care. Highly recommended for termite treatment and control.
Jay Neff, the owner of 1st Response, arrived on time (as usual) and proceeded to determine if mice had been feeding on the bait in my basement. Since the bait in some stations was completely gone and there were visible droppings, Jay suggested I might want to try something more aggressive, which could stop mice from entering my basement in the first place. I decide to try adding some outdoor bait stations to see if this stems my rodent problem. Jay also said he could spray around the perimeter of my house to prevent insects and spiders from setting up residence as well. I plan to add that service too.
I have used 1st Response for several years and find Jay and his employees, Chris and Sean, to be prompt, courteous, friendly, and knowledgeable.
Helped resolve a rodent issue in two units of a four-unit apartment building. Residential-friendly bait stations placed in appropriate locations and possible points of entries for rodents were noted once an inspection during an inspection of the property.
We have used 1st Response Pest Management for several years for a variety of different pest control needs. It has always been a very positive experience beginning with contacting Lisa at the office for scheduling to the on-site treatment with one of the many professionals. As an owner of a residential property business, we have relied on 1st Response to effectively solve our pest issues in a professional manner. They have always shown up for scheduled appointments and called with advance notification for us. It is important for us to make sure that pest control treatments are done in a manner that resolves the problem and is safe for our tenants and we feel that their services provide this for us.
We had some conflicting signs that a guest may have brought bedbugs to our house. Many companies offer bed bug services. 1st Response seems to have the most capability, using (contracted) dogs, and both heat and chemical treatments. Two technicians showed up and spent almost an hour looking over our house and talking to me about possible scenarios. They ultimately didn’t find anything, and they didn’t charge me for their time. They offered their ongoing spray services for other types of spiders, etc., which I’m still considering.
